Testimony from Doel

During the summer of 2004 Els Matthysen went to Doel, a forgotten polder village near Antwerp on the left bank of the river Scheldt. Sacrificed to the never ending expansion of the port, and left by all but the most tenacious of its inhabitants, Doel is a doomed village. The die-hard remainers in 2004 tell their story by way of a handwritten testimony that links them to their favourite village spot. In 2005 all pictures were shown in Doel, in a formerly squatted building.
